As you can see, I’m not quite finished my vest yet. I did make some good progress though, and the picture above is the front panel of my vest finished! I have already started the back half of the vest, but I haven’t gotten very far.
I’m very excited about this project so far, especially because I learned how to decrease stitches when crocheting! Decreasing is necessary in order to give a piece of clothing shape. If I didn’t decrease while making this, it would basically be a box without any curves for my arms or neck. This was an interesting process and I’m glad I learned how to do it!

I didn’t know how to decrease, and the pattern on Hay Hay Crochet didn’t give me instructions, so I looked it up and found the above diagram. I found the tutorial on this website, and it was really helpful in teaching me how to complete the proper stitch.
As I said in my original post, my next steps are to create the back panel, which will not involve as much decreasing as it will not have a neckline on the back. I am hoping the back panel will take me less time than the front!
I should hopefully be completely done the vest by next week, so stay tuned for the final reveal!
